Description

Just plain quaint!

Barba Negra Lodge is one of the cutest places in the area. It is set on a secondary public road which leads to pure serenity. Incidentally, it is on the non-dusty side of the road, LOL.

The little lodge was handcrafted during a couple years by the owner. He has built a nice little business over the years outside of COVID. The lodge is hostel style and fully enclosed and screened in rooms. They offer a number of rooms and various arrangements of spaces for single people, couples, or families. next to the rooms is a huge palapa community area where you can enjoy a book in a hammock or use the community kitchen to prepare your breakfast, lunch or dinner. The pool area is where most decide to enjoy their evenings or early mornings before heading out to explore the area.

Guests are happy that they are only a two minute drive to the world famous beach at Playa Negra. However, they are even happier that they are just another two minutes to the paved road to all points and just a few more minutes to the beaches of Callejones, Junquillal, Lagartillo, and, of course, Avellanas! Tamarindo and Santa Cruz are just thirty minutes away.

Barba Negra Lodge has all utilities that include public water, 100mb up and down fiber optic internet, electricity, and the possibility for phone service if you wanted it. There is full cel signal at this location. There is Playa Negra’s or Paraiso’s grocery store just a minute in either direction on the main road.

Playa Negra

Playa Negra isn’t off the beaten path anymore. There are great restaurants, new infrastructure, and a paved road that is five minutes away. There is fibre-optic internet, telephone, satellite t.v., and 3G cel service. You’ll find that Playa Negra is the Costa Rica you fell in love with and you will be glad that it is close enough to Tamarindo and Santa Cruz but just far enough as well.

Playa Negra has long been known for it’s incredible waves. However, in recent years the type of tourist has changed from the surfer who came to get some barrels to the upper middle class and they are building million dollar beachfront homes for the myriad that want to come and be in a truly authentic section of Costa Rica.

This is a great opportunity to build a nice little business while living your dream here in Costa Rica.
